According to the PMI Mortgage Insurance Co., Indianapolis and the surrounding area (Carmel, Fishers, Westfield, Zionsville, Brownsburg, Avon…) are at the bottom of the list for home values – in a good way. The Summer 2008 Risk Index released by PMI indicates that there is a less than 1% chance of Indianapolis real estate values declining in the next two years. In contrast, markets in California and Florida top the list with over 90% risk of home values decreasing in the next two years. 

Steady Indianapolis real estate values, in combination with Indianapolis being the most affordable housing market in the nation, are positive distinctions for Indianapolis real estate and homeowners.

After the release of Distinctive Neighborhood Design and our new luxury home designs earlier this summer, we began building our new home designs in Estridge neighborhoods to be available this fall as Estridge Homes Available Now. They are really beginning to take shape and we recently had the opportunity to walk a few of the new homes.

The photos below are of the Hanover, being built in Centennial at 146^th Street on homesite #76. The exterior of the home is HardiPlank siding with beautiful detailing that will take shape as the home moves along. You can see some of  the details that will be added to the home in the drawing on the left – window boxes, lattice, front porch columns, shutters, and much more.

While many of the custom finish details are not visible inside or outside the home right now, walking through it, you can really see the spaciousness of the rooms and the thoughtfulness of the design’s layout and flow.

Below you can view photos from the new home under construction. As the construction on our new home designs progresses, more photos will be added so you can watch the homes taking shape.  

Arched opening leads from the kitchen and harvest room to the spacious great room. The great room shares a dual-sided fireplace with the den. The large windows and door to garden patio contribute a lot of sunlight to this living space.

The den is entered with an arched opening off of the guest foyer. The sunny den also shares the dual-sided fireplace.

The mom’s office is the door off of the kitchen and opens into a sizeable walk-in pantry. The harvest room in the kitchen is really spacious – large enough for a 12-person table. It houses a furniture niche as well. The arched entry into this area adds a lot of elegance to the space.

The PDA Pantry is located in the Family Foyer off of the oversized garage. This smartly-designed area will include shelves for items like purses, wallets, etc. and a closed cabinet wired to house all of your chargers. This closed cabinet will occupy half of the width. The other half will be more shelves to actually hold the cell phones, PDAs, I-pods, etc. They can then be plugged in without the mess of wires everywhere. Very handy!

The upper level of the Hanover includes a loft that overlooks the 2-story guest foyer. Although not pictured, the tray ceiling in the master really distinguishes the master and is much more energy efficient than a vaulted ceiling.

HOMExperience enjoyed a delicious Guest Chef Cooking Class Thursday, July 17. Freddy Sanchez, Head Chef at Adobo Grill, treated the class to delicious dishes and of course, Adobo’s Famous Margaritas. The menu included the following treats:

¨       Guacamole

¨       Chayote salad with cherry tomatoes, goat cheese, red onions and poblano vinaigrette

¨       Red snapper filet with a Veracruz salsa and Mexican Rice

¨       Perfectly ripe mangos in a mango sauce with blueberry coulis

¨       The Famous, Fresh Adobo Margarita

Another fantastic cooking class at HOMExperience! We had a guest chef this evening – Chef John Egerton. He was chosen to host the Seafood Spectacular cooking class because of his vast experience with all sides of seafood. Chef John currently works for a wholesale fish supplier, has worked as a chef concentrating in seafood and even owned and operated his own commercial fishing vessel for a period of time.

His knowledge was incredible! We learned so much about the recipes and various ways to prepare fish, about different kinds of fish and the process and location for fishing it, even simple cooking tricks.




Did you know that if you oversalt a sauce or soup, you can simply cut a raw potato, add it to the pan for a few minutes and then remove it? That removes excess salt from the dish.

This evening’s class enjoyed Clams Casino, Mahi Mahi Veracruzana, as well as Blackened Redfish accompanied by three delicious wine selections. Volunteers assisted in filleting the fish, making sauce for the Clams Casino, assisting with final preparations and more. Below are some photos of the evening.
